Back to Our Team

Colin Woolliscroft

I’ve been doing CrossFit for 5 years; the last 3 years here as a member at CrossFit Didsbury. I’ve been through the journey from absolute beginner and am looking forward to contributing more to our community.

My early fitness journey was built in team environments; I joined the Army after leaving school, rowed at university, and was club captain at a London rugby club for several years.

As my training levels dropped off in my late-twenties my social habits didn’t and I needed something big to get my motivation back. A pub conversation led to me agreeing to join a friend in entering an Ironman triathlon and over the next 9 months I rediscovered my willpower and got my head straight on fitness, health & nutrition.

I loved the Ironman and got my fitness back, but had become super-specialised having done no strength work for almost a year. I finally plucked up the courage to try CrossFit and it was perfect – helping me become much more all-round yet maintaining my endurance conditioning and giving me the social community I’d missed while training for an individual event.

I’ve now competed in solo & team CrossFit competitions and discovered Hyrox which seems to really suit me – I had the amazing opportunity to race at the World Championships in Las Vegas in May 2022.

I’m passionate about supporting others on their fitness journey and I’m really excited to be able to share my experience with others. Please just shout if you’d like to chat fitness – especially if you’re brand new or would appreciate guidance on programming and fitting CrossFit in around your other sporting/training goals.
